Before the training, the organizer usually provides information about the venue, schedule, program, payment, and preparation requirements. Participants should clarify the exact address, start and end times, language of instruction, course level, participant requirements, what to bring, whether a certificate will be issued, and the cancellation policy. The first day begins with orientation: introductions, group guidelines, schedule, breaks, and the format for questions. The instructor then explains where P-DTR fits among other methods and introduces key concepts such as receptors, muscle testing, functional hypotheses, and outcome verification. Many students feel overwhelmed on the first day. This is normal. The method becomes much clearer through practical application.
Theoretical instruction helps students understand what they are doing with their hands. In P-DTR, theory is connected to neurophysiology, proprioception, receptors, muscle tone, reflex responses, and movement patterns. A skilled instructor explains complex topics in simple language and immediately connects them to practical application.
Practical training is the central component of the course. Participants work in pairs or small groups. One person performs the testing while the other serves as the model, and then they switch roles. Students practice positioning, stabilization, resistance force and direction, testing commands, stimulus application, retesting, and comparison of results.
Working in pairs helps participants understand that different people respond differently. A test may feel straightforward on one partner and more challenging on another. Some individuals have more tension, some compensate with body movement, and others may not fully understand the instructions. This is a safe learning environment where mistakes can be made and corrected.
Feedback is one of the main reasons to study in person. An instructor or assistant can identify issues such as incorrect pressure angles, excessive resistance, lack of stabilization, improper positioning, unnecessary movements, premature interpretation, or unclear instructions.
Course materials may include notes, diagrams, terminology lists, presentations, video recordings, homework assignments, or access to additional resources. Before the seminar, participants should clarify whether photographs of slides are permitted, whether recordings will be available, and which materials will remain accessible after the course.
After completing the course, participants may receive a certificate, confirmation of attendance, or documentation confirming completion of a specific level. A certificate does not replace a professional license and does not automatically grant the right to perform activities that are regulated by the laws of your country.
After the seminar, it is important to reinforce the material: review your notes, write down remaining questions, practice MMT with colleagues, repeat basic tests, avoid applying advanced techniques without confidence, attend supervision sessions, and plan the next level only after mastering the fundamentals.
